Two years after achieving second place, Braga was the most voted destination, winning the award of European Best Destination 2021, with 109 902 votes. The results were announced today, after three weeks of online voting, in which more than 600 thousand people from 192 countries participated.
The city from Minho competed against 20 world-renowned destinations, including Paris, France, Rome and Florence in Italy, Cappadocia in Turkey or Vienna in Austria. "2000 Years, One Destination" was the motto of the campaign to call for the vote launched by the Municipality of Braga. A campaign that highlighted the tourist offer of the city that combines history, youth, nature, spirituality, gastronomy, culture and innovation.
This is one of the most coveted awards for destinations since the winners and nominees benefit from increased tourism demand and international visibility, which can be a huge help in the economic recovery of Braga's tourism.
